Therapy Questions

How does therapy begin?

In the first session we will complete and review some paperwork, begin to hear your story, and start to build rapport. We may continue to gather more information about what brought you in our second session and then begin to set specific goals and discover potential areas of growth and improvements.

How long are therapy sessions?

Sessions are typically scheduled for 45 minutes to 1 hour. This may depend on your individual insurance plan or what was arranged prior to initial meeting. Most people come in once a week for consistent progress to be made. If you feel your problems warrant more frequent sessions, it is possible to meet twice per week.

When are your office hours?

We know that life gets busy and it can be difficult finding a time to make an appointment. Besides normal working hours, we often see clients in the evening, during their lunch break, or early mornings. We also offer Saturday and Sunday appointments. Our goal is to make your appointments as convenient as possible. Please contact us to see if we have a time that fits your needs.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is a critical component when engaged in therapy. All information disclosed during sessions is confidential and privileged and will not be revealed without your permission.

There are times when disclosure is legally required without permission. These are:

  • If there is suspicion of child abuse or neglect, or abuse to a dependent or elder adult.

  • If a client presents an imminent danger to oneself or to others.

  • If legally necessary and determined by a judge.
